The Bond Committee’s Recommendation for the Proposed 2020 Bond

Possible May 2, 2020 Bond Election –

The Hays CISD School Board will meet on December 16, 2019 to discuss the Facilities and Bond Oversight Committee’s (FBOC) School Bond Package recommendation.

The FBOC has 28 voting members appointed by the Board and some non-voting members appointed by Superintendent Eric Wright.

Click on “Final Committee Recommendation Ranking List” and on “Committee Recommendation Regarding Total Bond Cost.  These two links will tell you what the FBOC is recommending to the board at the public meeting on December 16, 2019.

The Board will have the option of accepting the recommendation, rejecting, or modifying the recommendation.  If we want to proceed, the Board will have a series of public hearings in January and maybe February, to take feedback from the community.  Based on feedback, the proposed bond package may change.

The Board conducts the public hearing to learn if the community agrees or disagrees with the proposal.  At the public hearings, you will see a presentation on the proposed bond and you can also provide oral and/or written comment.

The Board must decide by Feb 14, 2020 if we will have a bond election in 2020. If we want to proceed, the Board must declare an election and vote on what will be on the ballot.

Please read the current recommendation and tell us what you think.  You can provide feedback by clicking on the “Bond Talk 2020” button.  You can also email the Board or provide public comment at the meeting.
